Land Use SubCommittee

The Land Use sub-committee met on October 27th. Participants included: Bob Becker, Boo Thomas, Poco Sloss, Lou Voltz, Patricia Morris, Bill Borah, Yolanda Rodriguez, Domingo Correa, Keith Goode, Cathleen Carlisle, Watler Brooks and Larry Schmidt. Discussion focused on establishing a transparent planning process and structure that will guide land use and zoning decisions. The sub-committee will focus its work on the following objectives:

Planning Process and Structure---Establish a fair and equitable planning process and structure that places the responsibility for land use and zoning decisions with the City Planning Commission, removing the City Council from the appeal process. This will require a Charter change.

Land Use---Propose a land use plan that evolves from a neighborhood based planning process and is consistent with the Master Plan for New Orleans.

The sub-committee expressed the desire to place all meeting notices on the BNOB web site, and that conflict of interest statements be provided to each participant.
